American Falls Hospice Care

What is Hospice?

If you have experienced hospice in your life, whether from a friend or family member, you know how challenging it can be to go through. However, it can also be a beautiful experience to spend quality time and receive compassionate care when going through this transition. It is so important to work with people who truly care about their patients and families and are attentive to their needs. Here at BRiO Home Health and Hospice, that is our number one priority. We aim to give you nothing but the best in regard to hospice care

Hospice is a form of palliative care, given to those that are approaching the end of their life. The focus shifts from trying to cure whatever condition they have to manage pain and improving quality of life for the remaining time that they have left. Certain conditions, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and recurrent infections or organ failure, are usually large indicators that hospice may be the best option. If you or a loved one suffers from any of these conditions and the response to treatment isn’t working, BRiO is here to help.

Stages of Hospice

Walking a patient through the steps and stages of hospice can make it seem less daunting and help them feel more comfortable about the transition.

Evaluation

During the beginning stage, a doctor and hospice worker will conduct an evaluation to see if your condition and specific situation would be a good fit for hospice care. They will take into account the course your illness has taken and if you are willing to discontinue treatments that could cure it.

If it’s a good fit, the hospice team, consisting of nurses, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, etc. will meet with you to curate a personalized plan based on your needs and preferences.

Comfort Care

During this phase, the care plan is put into action. The team starts performing services outlined in the plan and maintains a good relationship with the patient. They make sure to attend to the needs discussed in the plan as well as ongoing needs that may come up throughout care.

End-of-Life Care

As the end of the patient’s life approaches more closely, the team will adjust the plan to make sure the patient is as comfortable as possible. They will continue to help manage their pain and symptoms, as well as offer emotional support.

This emotional support can consist of helping ease fear or loneliness the patient may be feeling as they get closer to death. This support can also mean providing counseling and financial help for the family to help them cope with the grief they may be feeling.

At BRiO, we have an exceptional team and community that will make your hospice experience worth it. Our team consists of a variety of specialists, so you are able to get care in all the different areas that you may need.

Nurses

We have highly skilled nurses who know how to navigate the ins and outs of hospice. They discuss with your doctor your specific situation so they know best how to manage your pain and symptoms. You can trust them to take care of any medical concerns you may have and make sure you are feeling as best as you can under these circumstances.

Social Workers

Our social workers can provide services such as counseling, financial assistance, and decision-making. They are also a great help in coordinating you with community resources. They are there to help with the complex challenges that come with hospice and offer an array of services that cover both the medical and emotional side of it.

Chaplains

Chaplains can offer a considerable amount of comfort, especially to those that are religious. Death can be a scary thing, but it provides spiritual comfort to ease any fear during hospice. They can pray with you, answer any spiritual questions you may have, and offer their support.

Additional Services

Community is such a pivotal part of what we do and who we are. Empathy drives all that we do here at BRiO. We make sure to implement this through our community outreach and volunteers.

  • Community Outreach: Through community outreach, we are able to educate the public about what we offer and how we can help them if they need any hospice, home health, or pain management services. We get to know residents through fairs, events, support groups, sponsorships, and other interactive means in the community.
  • Volunteers: Our volunteers are nothing short of true compassion and care. They dedicate their time to building relationships with hospice patients by playing games, reading, listening to their stories, and simply connecting with them.
